Coalition Coordinator

We’re looking for someone to facilitate the formation of a political coalition by bringing together representatives from various non-profits (and related community groups) vested in the rights and well-being of marginalized communities engaged in street economies, with a focus on decriminalization efforts. This is a 6 month contract position, to aid in the creation of the coalition.

Job duties

  • Gather and create contacts list for coalition invitations.
  • Co-ordinate coalition communication.
  • Represent SWOP-Seattle’s best practices and recommendations to the coalition itself.
  • Help create coalition policy and procedures.
  • Coordinate initial Events and Actions.
  • Work closely with coordination members to provide additional support for major campaign activities, as needed.
  • Coordinate communications between the coalition and SWOP-Seattle.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will be a member of a community directly impacted by discriminatory policing.  We are willing to support and train someone who is passionate about social justice.

Preferably candidates will possess a basic knowledge of:

diverse communities directly affected by discriminatory policing, including: sex workers and street economies, people who use drugs, communities of color, low-income people, youth, LGBT people, homeless people, immigrants, women, and people with disabilities.

  • Strong interpersonal communication, and facilitation skills, works well in teams
  • Strong writing, and public communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Current and former sex workers encouraged to apply, and prioritized

Position Reports to: SWOP-Seattle Council

Compensation and Schedule: This is a part time contract position. $30 per hour for up to 40 hours per month, for 6 months.

 

Fundraiser

This is a temporary 3 month contract position that will focus on fundraising around SWOP-Seattle’s annual SASS Festival held March 2-5, which includes (but is not limited to) the coordination of a raffle, silent auction, sponsorships, and overall donations. This position also includes the initial development of a sustaining donor program, and generating models to be used for ongoing fundraising efforts.

Job Duties

  • Build relationships with donors for sponsorship and donations for fundraising events
  • Assist with executing fundraising events such as raffles and auctions
  • Manage information and record of fundraising activity and donors in a database
  • Account handling: thank donors, and keep them informed of progress and milestones
  • Help foster ongoing sustaining donor relationships and contributions

Qualifications and Skills of Ideal Candidate

  • excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • organized and detail oriented
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Experience with Google Drive and WordPress a plus
  • Passionate about the well-being and human rights of sex workers and their communities.
  • Has got game and hustle! Go get that money!!! : )
  • Current and former sex workers encouraged to apply, and prioritized

Compensation and Schedule: This is a part time contractor position. $20 per hour for up to 10 hours per week, for 3 months.
