NSWP is launching a new project – ‘sex workers speak out’ – to amplify sex workers’ voices from across the world. We need your help to make it happen.

What the project is

NSWP is collecting short videos of sex workers from around the world, sharing positive experiences of sex work and what it has enabled them to achieve, and negative experiences and things that must change to improve their work and lives, to publish on an NSWP webpage.

Our aim is to show the diversity of sex workers experiences and strengthen support for sex workers human rights. The videos will be shown in the Sex Worker Networking Zone at the International AIDS Conference in July 2018, and on a dedicated NSWP webpage.

How to take part

Film yourself (or get a colleague to film you). You can use your smartphone, webcam or camera. We are asking you to share positive experiences of sex work and what it has enabled you to achieve, and negative experiences and things that must change to improve your work and life. Videos should not be more than 30 seconds long and can be recorded in your native language, but please provide a translation of your message in English when you send us the video. Short simple messages are often the most effective. If you prefer, you can submit an audio file of your message.

We want diverse opinions and voices from as many sex workers as possible represented in the project. Please share this request with sex workers that you know. Please bear in mind that the videos will be available on the Internet and seen by a global audience. We will only publish videos if the individual has sent us a completed consent form (attached). We will continue to collect videos throughout 2018, but if you want your video shown at AIDS2018 then we must receive it by 30th June.

Send your video and signed consent form to dani.anderson@nswp.org. Please also feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about the project.
